My Priorities
My policy agenda starts with constituent services, which are key to the role of State Representative. I have dedicated the majority of my career advocating for and finding solutions to local challenges facing our residents. On day 1, I’ll be ready to address, resolve and advocate for constituents with experience, community connections and systems knowledge to best navigate a positive outcome or resolution.
Housing and Financial Stabilization for our Community.
Housing is the number one threat to the financial stability of our community. Our workforce is currently priced out of any affordable housing options.
The Cape Cod Commission has called for “bold and swift action” to address the housing crisis stifling our local residents and businesses. Now is the time to move forward with the Affordable Homes Act; deliberate strategy, attainable solutions and a diverse set of possibilities that will support affordable and attainable housing, for our low to moderate income residents and the “missing middle”. I applaud the Cape & Islands delegation’s leadership on housing issues and hope to strengthen local and state efforts with my extensive experience and knowledge as a housing advocate.
Protecting our Precious and Fragile Environment
I support environmental initiatives from renewable energy production (wind, solar, geothermal) and will advocate with the Cape & Islands delegation to continue to prioritize environmental initiatives like the Cape Cod Freshwater Initiative, plastic reduction measures in our oceans with coastal sweeps, improving the disposal of dangerous “ghost gear” to protect our ocean wildlife, and will advocate to ensure the health of our freshwater ponds and lakes. These priorities and funding to support them will allow our region to invest in climate goals to support our growing blue economy and preserve our local habitats for all future generations.
Infrastructure to Drive Smart and Green Growth
Wastewater is the most significant infrastructure investment that will protect our environment while we increase housing for our workforce. The Cape Cod Water Protection Fund, Cape Cod Climate Change Collaborative and other initiatives have resulted in local partnerships driving real change with economic support behind them. I look forward to championing such initiatives and making state funding of our regional needs a priority.
Additional opportunities to improve our local infrastructure with green technologies will allow us to:
Develop transportation solutions for those isolated and struggling without access to buses and other options to get to key community centers or access employment opportunities.
Encourage innovative green building technologies so we can lessen costs and environmental impact.
Prioritize and invest in our Blue Economy while protecting our fragile ecosystems as we grow with a focus on sustainability.
Child Care & Support for our Local Families
The lack of affordable and accessible child care is a major challenge to financial stability for Cape families. Child care options must be prioritized to stabilize and expand resources to meet the needs of local families. From more opportunities for home day care providers as well as centrally located solutions and childcare vouchers, our local residents need to be able to access child care resources that meet their needs and budgets. I look forward to working with the Cape & Islands delegation to further efforts such as the Commonwealth Preschool Partnership Initiative (CPPI) to ensure that the 4th district becomes a priority for funding and addressing this critical issue.
Women’s Healthcare and LGBTQ+ Rights
I stand firmly and with deep personal commitment to support the right for all women to make their own healthcare decisions. As the Mom of a 15 year old daughter, I recognize the importance of the opportunity for female leaders like me to stand strong and together with all local leaders for this essential principle of personal freedom.
The LGBTQ+ community is my family, my community, friends and neighbors. I will fight tirelessly to be sure the rights of all members of our community, regardless of differences, are treated equally and with respect.
